DIARY

Saturday 14 January fine, 6°C ( Manchester ) -5°C ( Innsbruck / Seefeld)

· Up @ 8:30, got breakfast bag delivered to room (£4 ea, for cornflakes, croissants, banana etc), had cornflakes

· Checked out and caught cab @ 9:15 to Airport, went to Terminal 1, picked up bag from left luggage (£25)

· Walked to Terminal 2 (15 minute walk) and dropped non-ski related bags @ left luggage

· Checked in for flight with First Choice @ 9:30, then through to departure area, waited

· Onto plane @ 12:45 (supposed to take off @ 12:40) and took off @ 1:15, good flight, lots of cloud

· Fine coming over Austria and descending through Alps, landed in Innsbruck @ 4:30 Euro time

· Got bags then met Inghams rep and on bus for Seefeld (same rep we had in Kranska Gora!!!)

· Arrived @ hotel in Seefeld (Hotel Wetterstein) @ 6:00

· Out for a walk to main square, drew €100, bought some groceries then back to hotel for dinner @ 7:00 (very nice)

· Went to Olympic centre for swim @ 8:30 (free through hotel) then back to room @ 10:00

Sunday 15 January fine, 2°C - Seefeld

· Up @ 8:30, down for breakfast then walked to ski hire place (next to Bahnhof) to get skis etc

· Walked to Gschwankopf skifield and got locker for the week (€24) @ 11:30

· Skied until 3:30 (good snow conditions, no rain / snow since new year) then left skis, then walked back to hotel (5 minutes) and to room

· Went down for free cakes @ 4:15, then walked to Inghams welcome meeting @ bowling alley @ 5:00

· Walked back to hotel and relaxed then to dinner @ 7:00, then out for a walk arouns the block @ 8:30, back to room and relaxed

Monday 16 January fine, 2°C (35% humidity)

· Up @ 9:00, down for breakfast, left @ 9:45, walked to Gscwandkopf ski area

· Picked up skis etc and caught free ski bus, then changed to other ski bus to Rosshutte ski field (15 minutes)

· Went up in funicular railway then skied down, then ski around the bottom for a while

· Up in funicular then to top of Seefeld Joch in cablecar, AC skied down to funicular top station for lunch (Wiener schnitzel for the 2 of us €9), sat in the sun

· AC skied to bottom and met Liz off the railway, skied around for a while

· Left @ 3:00, bus back to Gschwandkopf, dropped off skis then back to hotel

· Liz posted letter to Vodafone about cancelling UK phone, had cakes from free buffet, then walked to supermarket for groceries

· Back to hotel @ 4:45, walked to pool for swim

· Back to hotel @ 5:30, relaxed

· Tea @ 6:45, then out to bowling evening @ 8:30 (€15), good laugh

· Back to hotel @ 11:00

Tuesday 17 January snow / fine / hazy cloud, 3°C

· Up @ 8:30, had breakfast

· Walked to Bahnhof and caught 10:46 to Innsbruck (snow stopped), arr 11:15

· Had coffee and muffin then walked to Altstadt, past triumphal arch then to Golden Roof

· Went up Stadtturm (€3 ea, 148 steps) and took photos

· Caught bus @ 1:06 to Igls ski area to look @ bobsleigh run (bus scraped truck on the way), arr 1:30

· Walked to bobsled run then back to ski area and had frankfurters for lunch

· Caught bus @ 10:30 back to town

· Walked to Innsbrucke (bridge) then back through Altstadt to Domkirche then back through town to Hauptbahnhof, had coffee

· Caught 4:40 train back to Seefeld, arr 5:15, walked back to hotel

· Out to see ski show by skischool instructors @ 6:00, then back to hotel for tea

· Out for a swim @ 8:30, starting to snow again, swam outdoors in the snow

· Back to hotel @ 9:30

Wednesday 18 January heavy snow (about 3’), 1°C

· Up @ 8:30, had breakfast then walked to town, did some shopping then wandered around in the snow

· Got on free bus around village then back to hotel @ 11:30

· Had coffee then walked to Gschwandkopf skifield (snow eased off) for some skiing

· Had lunch (desserts) @ 1:00, then skied, snow got heavy again

· Walked back to hotel @ 3:00

· Went to casino, spent €20, back to hotel @ 5:00

· Relaxed

· Tea @ 7:00

Thursday 19 January fine / patchy low cloud, 3°C

· Up @ 8:30, had breakfast then walked to Gscwandkopf to get ski’s then onto bus to Rosshutte

· Skied from 10:30, had lunch @ 1:00 up @ top of funicular, then across on cablecar to Harmelekopf

· AC skied down from there, Liz caught cablecar / funicular back down

· Finished skiing @ 3:00, caught bus back to Gscwandkopf, then walked back to hotel @ 4:00

· Had cake and coffee then relaxed

· Tea @ 6:45, then had coffee

· Out to pool @ 8:30 for a swim, back @ 9:30

Friday 20 January fine, 6°C

· Up @ 8:30, had breakfast

· Left @ 10:00, walked to internet café @ Hotel Bergland, sent emails

· Walked through town and picked up walking trail 2 heading to Mosern (2.5kms)

· Walked to Moserer See, then through Mosern to Friendensglocke (peace bell) overlooking Inn valley

· Had lunch @ café (Apfelschmarren (apple pancake)) then walked back to Seefeld

· Got skis from the locker @ Gschwandkopf and took them back to hotel

· Caught free bus to town cemetery for photos, then walked back to hotel

· Out to Casino (spent €21), back to hotel @ 5:00

· Relaxed

· Tea @ 6:30, then walked to Rosshutte with skis for AC to go nightskiing @ 8:00 until 9:15

· Walked back to hotel then had drink and relaxed

Saturday 21 January partly cloudy / snow showers / fine, 5°C - Seefeld to Manchester to Bowness

· Up @ 9:00, down for breakfast, took skis back to hire shop then back to hotel to pack @ 10:30

· Left bags in lobby then went for a walk around town and along Munchnerstrasse

· Had lunch in café in Dorfplatz @ 1:00, then back to hotel to read papers and have a drink

· Picked up by Inghams bus @ 2:45, and back to Innsbrucke Flughafen, checked in then through security

· Boarded plane @ 4:45, late leaving, de-icing and very busy airport today, took off @ 5:30

· Landed in Manchester @ 6:30, got bags and found prebooked taxivan (£70), left airport @ 7:00

· Drove north on motorways, back to Lindeth Fell @ 8:30

· relaxed
